Ria shares many similarities with Batumi, the second-largest city in Georgia. It’s multicultural, modern and yet committed to its roots. Perhaps that’s why Batumi served as the perfect backdrop for our Eastern European 2018 Summit.

Ria representatives from all over the world got to spend a productive couple of days with payment institutions from Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, and Georgia.

The event was filled with discussions on marketing efforts, business opportunities and the overall climate within our sector, all while breathing in that Black Sea air.

Ignacio Reid, our Chief Operating Officer, used the opportunity to update attendees on Ria’s current business and expansion plan.

“Ria is always evolving, and meetings like these allow us to ensure we are moving in the right direction. By sitting down and having an open discussion, we gather new information, stay up-to-date with the needs of our customers and partners, and can continue to plan our strategy around it,” he shared.

The summit left no leaf unturned, with our Marketing, Retail and Compliance teams offering insights on migration patterns, pertinent corridors, GDPR and Eastern European policies, among others.

Coordinators from Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, the Benelux, and Turkey discussed their corridors with the visiting countries, illustrating the efforts that go into keeping their end of the chain strong and relevant.

Our partners also shared their experiences working with Ria and the initiatives they’ve put in place to promote the brand in the region.

Alla Shelest, Ria’s Head of Business Development for Eastern European and Central Asian Countries, commented: “It’s always great to meet face-to-face with the collaborators we are in contact with every day. We’re thankful to both our partners and regulators for the insight shared and the great service they continuously offer us.”

Our team has returned invigorated and energized by their Georgian experience and eager to put into practice what they’ve learned. We are looking forward to the next summit, and in the meantime, we’ll leave you with some pictures of the event.
